Rankings

BU has been ranked as one of the top 400 universities in the 2022 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings. Institutions are ranked across 13 key indicators that measure an institution’s performance across four areas: teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook. The 2022 rankings include more than 1,600 universities across 93 countries and regions. This places the university 40th among the UK universities appearing in the 2022 rankings. 101 UK universities were included in the rankings in total.

Research

In the latest Research Excellence Framework (REF) assessment exercise, 95.7% of the Bournemouth University research submitted was found to be delivering considerable impact or above, with 31.5% achieving an outstanding impact score. Find out more about BU’s research on their website.

Location

Famous for its seven-mile stretch of award-winning sandy beaches, Bournemouth is a stunning coastal town in the UK. With a population just shy of 200,000 and a thriving hub for a number of industries including the creative, financial and tourism sectors, Bournemouth offers the hustle and bustle of a vibrant town combined with a life by the sea.

Bournemouth is also less than two hours from London (with direct trains to Waterloo) and there is an international airport.
